CUSTOMER CHALLENGE

The customer was running production non-stop 24/7 on a total surface area of 6500 m2. The building, constructed in 2013,  was supported by bedrock with the pillar grid while the floor was principally ground-supported. According to Geobear´s level survey, the critically subsided area was -115 mm compared to the original level of the production line base in question. The subsidence hampered the production efficiency at the factory. Further, it posed the risk to the machines operating at full capacity.

OBJECTIVES

Geobear was contracted to lift a floor area of 3188 m2. The target was to re-level the whole floor to close to the original level, defined as +4,030 m compared to the sea level.

OUTCOME

Work-area was divided into 4 sections. The Geobear team was present on site 24/7, in 2 x 12h shifts. The work was started from the most subsided areas and moved from these areas outwards to less subsided areas. Geobear drilled holes to the floor at approximately 2 m intervals and injected expanding geopolymer under the factory floor to re-level the floor to the targeted level. In order to avoid creating new cracks, the floor was lifted carefully in several stages until the target level was reached. During Geobear´s injection work, the production facility stayed open for production machine maintenance. The project was completed ahead of schedule due to the optimal work process flow and excellent cooperation between Geobear and the customer.
