Water Sealing for Water Ingress
Water sealing is a core service that Geobear provide. Utilising versatile and effective processes our geopolymer material can form a water barrier to prevent the migration of water into a site. The service is effective in most instances on construction sites where water migrates through sheet piles or cofferdams. Its also used to seal leaking dams and structures affected by water ingress, such as Hurst Castle. The material we use can ensure construction programmes are kept on track as the geopolymer material is injected with no major excavation and cures in minutes.

What is Water Ingress?
Water ingress is when water makes its way into buildings. It can come in various different forms, as water can enter the building in different ways. For example, it is common for water to get in via the basement, but it can also enter through the roof or the walls of a building if the building materials have become damaged or deteriorated. It goes without saying that water ingress means big problems for the building and its inhabitants.
The presence of water is a major issue on construction sites with a high water table. When excavating effective shoring can be compromised by the presence of water, Geoebar injects into the area forcing water to redirect around any construction or work area.
What Are the Common Causes of Water Ingress?
In construction, water can seep into sites through the piled walls or from beneath. On properties, old and deteriorated building materials can let water in. Missing roof slates, broken guttering or render cracks are examples. Rot or a faulty damp course can also be causes of ingress damage.
We treat buildings that are vulnerable to or have experienced water ingress through walls or basements due to water migration or because of the soil type.
If your building is near a water source, such as a lake or river, then you are at higher risk of water ingress. This is especially true if the area is prone to flooding.
Prevention is Key
As with any building maintenance, it is always easier and cheaper to put preventative measures in place than to repair damage caused by a major issue such as a flood.
Our water sealing solutions are becoming increasingly commonplace in the UK. The increase in flooding in recent years has seen a rise in the demand for a preventative measure for water ingress and also a permanent barrier in already saturated environments. The cost of repairing severe water damage is far more than the cost of Geobear’s preventative measures, so don’t put off getting your at-risk areas water-sealed.
A High Tech Solution
The process we use follows the core principles behind our resin injection methodology. The materials we use are closed-cell and impermeable, meaning the injection and subsequent expansion of the materials forms a sealed barrier against any liquids.
We use our water sealing techniques on worksites where a barrier needs to be created to facilitate construction or where structures are already below the water line and the integrity is compromised by water migration.
Our specialist engineering department will design a package of works depending on the objective of the works, taking into account any environmental considerations. The materials we use are all environmentally friendly.
Don’t leave it too late – if you think your home or business is at risk from water ingress, then get in touch with the team at Geobear straight away. We will inspect your property to see if it is at risk and then work out a plan with you from there.
